I'm going to have squash and zucchini coming out of my ears soon! The plants are still doing wonderful with very little pest problems. I've only seen 3 squash get eaten by bugs and that is pretty damn good! I could never eat this many squash and I am really looking forward to sharing!
I have never had a tomatillo but I have LOTS of tomatillo plants growing. The first tomatillo I tried I did not like one bit....There are many different varieties and the first was very small and green. I actually didn't even plant that one. It grew out of our fill dirt and I let it stay. I planted others that are very big and green. I'm waiting for them to be ripe and crossing my fingers they are delicious. I am also growing "ground cherries" which are tomatillos - who knew? They are going to be light orange and sweeter according to my research.
The lettuce is growing abundantly and I have plenty to share with family and bunnies. The kids take freely from the lettuce, kale, and chard either for themselves or for BunBun(she's a well fed rabbit). I love seeing the kids munch on lettuce as a special treat!
I have to start planting more seeds - more carrots and lettuce to keep our supply up. I haven't trellised the tomatoes like I wanted last week and they are starting to get out of control. Perhaps while the kids are with Grandma this afternoon I can get that done. It's so full back in the tomato beds that little ones would be breaking branches left and right.
Made this week: Roasted squash and zucchini, smoothies loaded with kale, salads, and a lot of snacking on fresh carrots
Your garden looks amazing Crystal! So beautiful and abundant. Great job Momma :)
